Coffee, Cupcakes, and Yarn
Today, I was blue…and stir crazy. I longed for my Appalachian Mountains. I missed my family and distant friends. I was in the mood to sulk! Normally, I, like any self-respecting woman, would have curled up on the couch with M&M’s, a cushy blanket, and an atmospheric movie. However, I didn’t figure my five month old would understand this need for mental escape. He was in a...

A Cloudy Sunday
I love cloudy, rainy days, I love Sunday, and I love three-day weekends. So, this is bound to be a good day!  I am happy to report that my hair is looking pretty fab now. Straight and RED it is!! (Thanks, Nancy!) I did go by Paper Source yesterday but couldn’t make up my mind regarding the flower kits. I’m thinking one of the wreaths? I did, however, finally get a 2012 calendar,...

It's Saturday!
Today is Saturday, so that means I get a little time to myself! Hubby doesn’t have to work today, so he can stay home with the wee one. I’m on my way to get my hair cut and hopefully a new style since these once curly locks have gone straight due to some hormonal nonsense after having a baby. I have no clue what to do with this mop but am trying to look at the experience as a rare...

A Picture Says It All
My days are yet disorganized and mostly at the mercy of the 11 week old running the show, but my nights are still pretty normal. …Hanging out with my sweetie, lounging cats, and of course, KNITTING. On this night, I am working on the wee lad’s winter accessories while watching The Last of the Mohicans on Blu-ray. Knitty kitties never play with yarn. (…but they do occasionally...

It's "Shake and Bake," and I Helped.
So, my little guy is nearly 10 weeks now and is becoming less easily contained. Trying to roll over and pushing off of things are what seem to be on his mind recently. He also tends to get restless with boredom if left in a seat or cushion for any amount of time since he lacks the hand control to really play with his toys yet. I’ve got a feeling that we have many days ahead of us with him in...

Stash Storage
Does anyone have any clever ideas for yarn storage? My current situation isn’t really cutting it, so I’m all ears if y’all have suggestions. Something other than just a big tub of yarn would be good as I need to see my choices when a new project idea starts bubbling in my brain. Help!

Baby Steps
Well, today I did manage to get all of my maternity clothes packed away. That’s a step! An important one, I’d say. It was like confirmation that I’ve been over a huge hurdle and can now resume a normal life, albeit a very different normal. Too bad the under-the-bed containers don’t fit under the guest room futon where I had planned on putting them. (There are already...

Aspiring to Domestic Goddesshood
Well, I was using Tumblr but am now back to Blogger. Boy, I wish I could make up my mind! Maybe I’ll learn to be less flighty with the new responsibility of being a mom. …Holy crap, I’m a MOM! I’ve decided to be a SAHM for at least a year and am working on getting my days organized. First on the list is getting the apartment cleaned up. I am finding this to be no small task...

Needles and Blankets
Well, I finally broke down and bought the Addi Turbo Click interchangeable needle set. I was knitting on one of Li’l Spark’s blankets when the cable dislodged from my KnitPicks Options needles. Such separation has occurred on previous projects, so I decided I’d finally had it. The Options needles were my first “real” purchase when I began knitting in 2006, and I have...

It's Been a While
Well, I’m having to change my knitting queue up a bit since we have a wee one along the way. :-) I haven’t felt much like knitting for a few months, but the desire is back in full swing now that the horrid nausea has lessened and we’ve just found out that said wee one is a boy! Time to start making baby things! I’m working on a blanket right now and will post pics soon.

All Queued-up!
I’ve just gotten my Ravelry all queued up to get me through a good chunk of the new year! My goal is to knit from stash unless I have a certain project in mind for which I need to purchase a specific yarn. …May the yarn gods be merciful at the quickly approaching Stitches West.

Christmas Scarves
This is one of the scarves I’ve been making for the beautiful ladies in my life. (This one I decided to keep for yours truly.) The pattern is Loopy Crochet Scarf and the yarn is Trendsetter Frivola. This scarf is WAY simple and takes only about 15 minutes to complete. Can’t beat that! Merry Christmas, everyone!! Be merry and bright!

At last! There is a pattern for a fox scarf very similar to Anthropologie’s “Shrewd Fox Stole,” which I posted a few weeks back. Thank you to Doreen Bailey!

100% Pure →
I am in like with this brand of toiletries & cosmetics. I have sensitive, allergy prone skin, and the closer I can get to all-natural, the better results I seem to have. They just opened a store in Santana Row, and I have already found myself there several times. Burt’s Bees is my staple, but it is nice to have an alternative. We shall see if it turns into love. ♥

Shades of Christmas
This is what Christmas looks like in California. We are celebrating our sixth holiday season here, and I’m still not quite used to it. It looks more like a beautiful autumn day back where I come from. Fall is my favorite season, so I’m not entirely opposed to this strange scene while shopping for my Christmas tree. Hubby sizing them up In fact, I think there is something quite...

Christmas or a Speeding Train?
There are two weeks left until Christmas. Really?? One of the problems with being an East Coaster living in California is that you miss those seasonal queues that let you  know what time of year it really is. 2010 truly has been a blur, and it looks like it’s going to go out in one as well. We haven’t even put up our tree yet but do plan on remedying that tomorrow. I’ve had so...

Organizing
I’m proud to say that I finally got all of my knitting patterns put into plastic sleeves and a 3-ring binder last night. Now I just need to clean up my Ravelry “favorites” (now, approaching 600) and find a new way to store yarn. My current storage method is filled to the brim, and it is certainly not the most suited way to maintain a stash of fibery goodness. (I’ve...
