Coffee, Cupcakes, and Yarn
Today, I was blue…and stir crazy. I longed for my Appalachian Mountains. I missed my family and distant friends. I was in the mood to sulk!
Normally, I, like any self-respecting woman, would have curled up on the couch with M&M’s, a cushy blanket, and an atmospheric movie. However, I didn’t figure my five month old would understand this need for mental escape. He was in a bit of a bad mood himself, so I decided we both needed to get OUT— the kind of out where you aren’t running errands or accomplishing “stuff,” the kind of out where you go somewhere and do something purely soul-soothing and a bit hedonistic. I decided to remedy the funk with a little trip to downtown Los Gatos.
We strolled around in the afternoon sun, comforted by the light breeze and relaxed weekday vibe. I got cappuccino at my favorite coffee shop, cupcakes from a recently discovered bakery, and a couple of skeins of yarn for a simple knitting project I’ve had in mind. The bairn got to be outside, hear the sounds, and see that…and that…and that.
I feel better now.
